The Historic Houses Trust (HHT) is committed to protecting your privacy. We understand that our customers are concerned about the privacy, confidentiality and security of their personal information and have provided this privacy statement to demonstrate our commitment to these principals in compliance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (or PPIP Act).

SUMMARY

When you join the Historic Houses Trust mailing list, book or attend an event run by the Historic Houses Trust, or subscribe to the Historic Houses Trust e-bulletin, details that you provide may be recorded on a secure database. They will only be used to send you information from the Historic Houses Trust and will not be passed on to any other organisation. You can access this information at anytime or request removal from our database by contacting us.


What kind of information does the HHT collect?

Depending on the type of contact you have with the HHT, we may collect the following information:

  • Name
  • Postal address, suburb, postcode
  • Contact telephone, fax and mobile phone numbers, email addresses
  • Concession or other discount card number
  • Credit card details
  • Age range
  • Interests (related to the Historic Houses Trust)
  • How you heard about an event

The above information will only be collected with your prior knowledge. This information will not be shared with other organisations without your prior consent.

How and why does the HHT collect this information?

When you visit our website, our server makes an anonymous record of your visit and may obtain the following information for statistical purposes only:

  • User’s server address and top level domain name
  • Date and time of visit to the site
  • Pages viewed and documents downloaded by the user
  • Sites previously visited
  • Type of browser used
  • Country of origin of the user

When you visit our website and contact us by email
When you visit our website, our server logs your visit and collects anonymous data regarding your use of our website for statistical purposes only. The HHT will not attempt to identify users or their browsing activities unless called upon to do so by a law enforcement agency with an active warrant.

When you join TRUSTeNEWS
Our TRUSTeNEWS e-bulletin is an email service designed to keep you up to date with HHT events, special offers and other news. You can only be added to the list at your request or if you give us permission to do so. Your name and email address are recorded in order for us to personalise and send the email. We will never provide the ist to other organisations; however, we may promote special offers from other organisations in the email.

When you enter Lucky Door Prizes at HHT events and festivals
When you visit HHT events or festivals you may complete a form to enter a Lucky Door Prize. Recording your name and contact details on the form is necessary so that we can contact you if you win a prize. You will also be required to indicate if you do not wish to join our mailing list. You may also provide optional information such as your age range, how you heard about the event, your interests and how you travelled to the event. This information (with the exception of your interests) is used anonymously for statistical purposes. If you have indicated that you do not wish to join our mailing list, your form will be destroyed once the statistics have been compiled. If you have nominated that you wish to be added to our database, we will record your contact details, interests and event attendance in your database record. This helps us to tailor products and services to your preferences.

When you book tickets for an HHT event or join our mailing lists
When you book tickets for an event we will record your contact details and payment method (such as credit card number) in order to process your booking and send you your tickets. When you book tickets, you will automatically be added to the mailing list, unless you request otherwise. When you request to be added to the HHT mailing list we will record your contact details. Your record on the mailing list is used to send you information about HHT events and activities and will not be provided to other organisations without your strict permission.

How is personal information stored and how can I access and change my information?

When you join the HHT’s mailing list, book for an event or subscribe to our e-bulletins, your details are recorded on a secure database. You have the right to access the personal information that you provide to us.

You can access this information by sending us an email, fax or letter or by telephone. You will need to request the type of personal information you want and the purpose for which the personal information would have been collected.

The HHT will take reasonable steps to correct information that is incomplete, inaccurate, out-of-date or misleading. When we send mail to you we will often provide a form that you can fax or post back to us with your updated details. You can also request to be removed from the mailing list on this form. If you receive our email newsletters, you can request that your details be changed or that you be removed from the list. Every email will provide the option to unsubscribe from this mailing list.

You can also change your personal information by contacting us by mail, telephone, fax or email.
