Lecture Series
Join us for a special series of lectures exploring historical and contemporary perspectives in architecture, heritage, design and development. The series presents eight conversations in which eminent historians and writers such as Dr James Broadbent, Dr Judith O’Callaghan and Professor Philip Goad will be paired with leading contemporary architects, social commentators and property specialists including Sean Godsell, Peter Stutchbury, Hannah Tribe and Jonathan Chancellor to examine different types of housing, from 19th-century villas and Californian bungalows to McMansions and emergency shelters.

Study groups
Learn about the material culture, design ethos and heritage of two typical Australian housing styles: the terrace and the bungalow. These study groups, led by HHT curators and researchers, will explore specialist collections held in the Caroline Simpson Library & Research Collection.

Open house
Led by HHT experts, these tours will explore the apartment and the villa. Join Dr Caroline Butler-Bowdon on a walking tour of iconic apartment buildings and curator Scott Carlin on a walking tour of Elizabeth Bay House and other famous villas of Potts Point, Kings Cross and Elizabeth Bay.
